How AITA Consulting Supported W.W. Grainger's Workforce Needs Across IT, Engineering, and Beyond
Client Overview:
W.W. Grainger, Inc. is one of the largest industrial supply distributors in North America, serving businesses across maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO). With a vast product catalog, a nationwide distribution network, and a workforce that spans technical, operational, and professional functions, Grainger requires a staffing partner that can deliver quality talent across a wide range of skill sets consistently and at scale.
Project Overview:
Grainger engaged Broadleaf Results, Inc. as their Managed Service Provider to oversee and streamline their contingent workforce program. Broadleaf, in turn, brought in AITA Consulting Services as a sub-contractor to support staffing augmentation and temporary labor needs across four workforce categories: IT, Engineering, Professional Services, and Non-IT roles. Our engagement operates within Broadleaf’s MSP framework, ensuring full alignment with Grainger’s workforce planning, compliance standards, and talent acquisition goals.
Business Problem & Objective:
Grainger operates at a scale where open roles have a direct impact on business performance. Between ongoing operational demands, technology initiatives, and engineering projects, the need to place the right people quickly is constant. The challenge wasn’t just filling positions it was delivering qualified talent across four distinct workforce categories while staying fully compliant within Broadleaf’s structured MSP program.
Our objectives were clear reduce time-to-fill, maintain candidate quality, meet program KPIs, and be the staffing partner that Grainger and Broadleaf could count on, year after year.
Our Staffing Approach:
With years of recruiting experience and a strong candidate network behind us, we built and delivered talent across four workforce categories to support Grainger’s staffing augmentation program.
Successful delivery of the engagement required filling roles across:
IT — Software Developers, Systems Analysts, Infrastructure Specialists, and Project Managers
Engineering — Design Engineers, Process Engineers, and Technical Specialists
Professional Services — Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, and Administrative professionals
Non-IT / Temporary Labor — Warehouse, Logistics, and Distribution staff
We used our referral-driven sourcing model, with recruiters aligned to each specific skill set, to identify the best local and national candidates for every open position. Our structured vetting process ensured that only the most qualified, program-compliant candidates were presented to the client people ready to integrate quickly and contribute from day one.
Results:
What started in May 2017 as a staffing sub-contract has grown into one of our longest-running MSP partnerships. Over nearly eight years and 60+ placements, we have delivered consistently across IT, Engineering, Professional Services, and Non-IT categories, each one vetted, program compliant, and ready to contribute from day one. Grainger’s teams have stayed resourced through demand shifts and evolving project needs, while Broadleaf’s program standards have been met without exception. The numbers reflect the work, but what we’re most proud of is the trust that has been built on both sides of this partnership and the fact that it continues to grow.
